Adventures in buying a house. Part 1

So Chris and I have finally decided to take the big plunge and start looking for a house. We are so very tired of living in apartments and are really ready for our girls to have a yard to play in of their very own. I thought it might be fun to blog about the process every step of the way. I have seen this process from both ends of the spectrum. When my parents bought their house 4 years ago, it took them months and they had three different buyers fall through before they could sell their old home. It was a really long hard experience for them. On the other hand, my sister needed to get into a home within a month of them starting the process. It took them three weeks without hardly any problems at all. I am hoping we follow in my sisters footsteps and not my parents.

We have already called our credit union to see what we might be able to afford and I have also made contact with a Realtor, we have an appointment with her on Friday. We are also waiting on a phone call from a lender to help us figure out our money. I am a little scared and unsure of all of this, but I am sure we are in for an adventure.

Yeah! Very exciting! I hope it goes smoothly for you, too. It surely can't be worse than what we went through! We had our apartment all packed up, keys turned in, everything in the moving truck ready to unload at our house, went to do the final closing and they had failed to mention we wouldn't be closing that day...or the next....It was one entire month later! Homeless with two little boys and one change of clothes each for that entire time! It's really something I try to forget but then I think no matter what...next time HAS to be better! Good luck!
